Wicky, that is fantastic news :grouphug: . I've sent Luke a pm :)
Thanks :grouphug:

The only thing I am angry about is that parents haven't a clue about this law :x In the support centre Luke's been in for months there's 5 or 6 other kids suffering as badly as Luke has been :( It's not on :|

Hope Luke gets better and more like himself very soon, he's a good lad and should be happy and not dreading going to school, I know what thats like, I had a few bad years in school, I just went back at my own time because of what was going on at home etc, all the teachers understood. So whats you gonna do with him Wicky? Teaching at home and stuff? Whatever you all decide on, I'm sure it will be all good :D

Anyway, pass on my regards to Luke, I'm sure he's gonna be fine and we'll all meet up this year at a Maiden gig 8) :headbang:

Thanks Ben  Going to give teaching at home a try, the experts recommend a few weeks of "de schooling" And then choosing a topic he's interested in to start off with....should get on ok :) He's getiing happier by the minute, don't think it will really sink in, for both of us, until I don't have the usual riot on Monday morning!

Wasn't sure what thread to put this in, this one will do :err:
I don't know if anyone noticed but the last few months I lost the will to spam (I mean post!) ....Our problems started a few years ago and have gradually got worse, Luke has never enjoyed going to school, we always had a lot of days where he'd have a headache, tummy ache, anything ache come to think of it... Year 6 was tough for him at primary school as most of his good friends had moved up to High school.
Year 7 was tough but I thought it was him just settling into High school and that he'd be ok in the end. Since september life has been so tough, He would cry so much that he'd be sick :( If I got him to school he'd end up with the nurse and I'd have to go and get him :( I'd got to the stage where I couldn't sleep, just dreading the next day. The last half term as been the worst, rarely getting him there and he'd be in the support centre, not in lessons.
We are supposed to be starting meetings with welfare people and dr's in the next few weeks :| Outside school he's a happy normal boy, but in it he is a wreck...i'm not having my son stuck on tablets :x

Now the happy bit :D

Last week while searching online for anything that could help I discovered that school is not compulsory  I hadn't got a clue that that was the case  Education is, but school isn't! The fines and court that we see people going through on the news could all have been stopped by the parents de registering their kids!
Luke will not be going back to school after half term, he is over the moon about it and he asked me to tell you all what's been going on :)

I might be quiet for a few weeks while I read up on the best way to teach him ....i've found and joined some great support groups online, even found someone in my town who home educates  :D

Sorry for the essay  Here's to the end of stress and to a happy house
So MM doesn't have to search :P

well all i can say to that is
be very careful what you choose
you don't want him to finish some education nobody will recognize afterwards when he's grown up and looking for work

I've looked into that side of things, If he wants to he can still work on his GCSE's at home and take them at a local college :) I've also rang 2 colleges to see their views on accepting home educated kids, they are fine about it, saying that they are usually better rounded people. GCSE's aren't compulsory either, they are basically just a way for schools to show how good they are in the league tables :| This way, say he decides to take 4, because he likes the subject and passes with great grades, it's better than being forced to take 10 and failing most of them.
He may well decide he wants to give school another go next year, I won't mind either way. But at least we can end whats been a total nightmare year

Luke clicked submit when I was talking :x

I meant to say I will be in the morning :D

Bit excited :err:
