I would say Maiden 'own' Metallica :|

Why do people always compare Metallica to Iron Maiden? Why not enjoy both bands?

Metallicas early stuff is awesome, Ride The Lightening is one of the best metal albums ever in my opinion, big deal, their stuff after the 80s wasnt too great..but you could say the same about Maiden :|

One thing Metallica do better than Maiden is they know which album to play through live, and thats Master of Puppets, and I know what I'd rather hear played live if it came down to MoP or AMOLAD!

Old Metallica is awesome, Old Maiden is awesome, just enjoy both bands and dont listen to any idiotic fanboys :banana:
 
for me no band can be compared to maiden , they are true masters of metal...
nobody ever recorded so many great albums like maiden...maiden's golden era is the best period in rock/metal history ever for me!!

albums like TNOTB,POM,Powerslave,SIT,SSOASS...are something that will never happen to any other band

also...maiden never had a"bad" album...you couldn't say the same thing about metallica , just take a look at st.anger which is in my humble opinion the worst album ever...total crap...without any solo , too long boring songs which can only fuck up your mind... :|

also...i think that maiden never stopped to make great records...

that's why IRON MAIDEN is the best band ever for me!!!

but i also like metallica's early stuff because AJFA is one of the best metal albums ever (same as RIDE THE LIGHTNING for benny) :wink:
 
I think Maidens best year was after TNOTB..I really dont enjoy that album, its very overrated, Bruces vocals are horrible :| at least he actually sings now :P

IM, Killers, Piece of Mind, Powerslave 8) everything else just has select songs which I like.

Maiden have done a few bad albums, NPFTD for one :err: Fear of The Dark was ok musically, but the cheesy porno music production/overall sound is just dire :|
 
mate , it just matter of opinions...
i think maiden never recorded a bad album because every their album has something different and interesting in it...you can't say that about metallica...kill 'em all for example , james sounds shitty that i couldn't recongise him at first...had a really weak and thin voice... :?

and i think that TNOTB is not overrated because it was revolutionar album i metal history...spread metal to a lot of people...:)
i think that songs from that album are one of the best metal songs ever!!

just take for an example hallowed be thy name,the number of the beast , run to the hills , children of the damned... :wink:

but...like i said , everyone have different view of things :wink:

but i think that metallica is most overrated band ever (after'88) , but that's just me :wink:

sorry ben, i'm crazy fanatic but your always shiting on maiden too much. maiden are now in new gold era. on every maiden album you can find atleast 3-4 songs which kicks ass. few songs which can be on every maiden album. at least 3-4, i can find more, but you should be able to find 3-4

:shock: I've been biting my tongue for a while but I need a rant :err: What has happened since DoD ..which you were very excited to see live...to make you constantly slag them off :? I'm not saying I love every song maiden have done...or every album come to that....No Prayer and the Blaze albums left a lot to be desired. You had an amazing time in Iceland too 8)
Maiden release what I think is one of their best albums yet ( I know some people don't think so, but the majority do, and you can't please all the people all the time) and all of a sudden it seems you hate them :?

Would you have said the same if they'd decided to play the whole of 7th son or Powerslave just after they were released :?
I don't want this to turn into a slag of AMOLAD session...just wanted to point out that we are bloody lucky that they are still giving us some amazing music after all these years! :banana:

I think that what's happening is that as Benny is getting older he is seeing the world in a different light. His opinions of things are changing, and his choices of music are perhaps being influenced by the things happening in his life.
'Arry came out with The X Factor whilst going through his divorce. A notably darker more broody album than previous, and later when he'd got over it a bit Virtual XI, Which was a bit lighter.
Perhaps this is Benny's X Factor period. Give him time and and he may decide he's gonna like Maiden's more recent catalogue, maybe not.
At the moment the new album is not his taste, It's not really mine either, Ben's just making his feelings heard.
I may be reading it wrong........ :|
