i can say that because i know more about the subject than any of yourockin_plumber said:
after all networks are what i am specialising myself for
look at it like this. imagine we both start from scratch. we both made a deal with the telephone company. i took dial up and you took dsl.
i simply plug the telephone cable in my modem and i can log on to the net
however you need to install a router, configure it, plug a cable into the router, then take anothe cable plug it into the routher with one ned and into the modem with another end and only then yu can log on to the net
who has it easier?

Through a coax....
Connected to the PC Via Ehernet
So XP automatically detects it once turned on...
All I would need was to get NTL to give me a modem 8)
