I was just taking it to the extreme :)

I think being imprisoned for the rest of your life is a far worse punishment than death. Time can be very cruel!

If prison really were a horrible place where you are tortured and mistreated the way you deserve for being a murderer or child rapist-I might think differently. But nowadays prisoners have more rights than the average person on the outside. Prisoners are fed better than over 25% of the population, they are given free health care and schooling. They do drugs heavily in there too- so time is like a party. Some prisoners like it better on the inside, that's why they keep going back. Plus- in the U.S. a life sentence does not really mean life it's only 25 years. Which gets shortened for different reasons. Some people will get out in less than 7 years- even if they committed murder. :|

Still, it's much better than the system in Norway :|

The longest punishment is 21 years, but nobody really stays in for that long. Murderers can go free after 5-6 years. Prisoners even get to go on 'leave' during weekends or other time. It's crazy!

It's sad. I think it's also sad how unfair the system is against women. I always hear about how people that are minorities are mistreated and judged unfairly- well women too. The case that I always think of when considering Capital
Punishment is this one: a woman had an 18 month old daughter, the woman went back to work and had hired a babysitter. The babysitter brought her boyfriend (a known felon- had assaulted several children and was in prison previously for 'inadvertantly' killing another child) to the woman's house. The boyfriend raped and killed the baby. He only got 15 years in prison- only served about 4. The woman killed him after he got out-she also castrated him first. She is still in prison for his murder- almost 20 years later. :|

So that's why I think it is warranted in some circumstances. Sexual assault on children warrants it in my opinion- it is something that the criminals usually do more than once, and it escalates. If he had been punished properly the first time- he would not have killed her baby. :|

I know that here in the U.S. we have a website where you can look up info. on registered sex offenders. You can actually find where they live. Over 80% of the people that have committed acts against children live within 200 yards of schools or parks :| Ticking timebomb

I hear you, but I just don't think killing someone is punishment. It doesn't really change anything. It's like trying to correct a wrong-doing by doing something wrong again :|

I agree with the fact that two wrongs don't make a right, but preventing children from getting killed is a priority in my opinion. I just think it would be better all around if we took all the dangerous criminals and stuck them on a deserted island- let them fend for themselves :x

make them wear signs saying "I'm a Politician, I am paid to lie" :evil:


we need the signs to differentiate between the criminals and politicians; you know, since so many are both :|
