He is the one who changed the way archaeology was being made. Before the 60's archaeology was concerned in the description of objects and construction of chronological frameworks rather than searching for explanations of human behavior through the archaeological record. He made Archaeology a scientific discipline. He founded what has been called Processual Archaeoogy, a scientific archaeology. Nowadays the trendy thing is to be post-processual (postmodern).

He is a neat guy... I respect a lot his work.

People like that are the ones who I would like to meet. I don't really get excited about the actors and musicians I've met-they don't impress me much. Einstein impressed me. I don't think there is really anyone else. :?

Maybe you should read him. I recommend you "In Pursuit of the Past". That's a great book in which he talks about the way he amkes archaeology.

Kent Flannery is another person you should read...his kind of my heroe in archaeology. There has been a new edition about his book about the Zapotecs. He deals with the stuff I am interested.. the evolution of complex societies.

Do not forget about Sartre, I know you like it... I like all his stuff and specifically the way he put together his existentialist stuff with marxism. I know you like Nietzche very much too...
