Renault F1 has parted company with team boss Flavio Briatore and engineering chief Pat Symonds after dropping its defence against the race-fixing allegations made by its former driver Nelson Piquet Jr.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Renault said it “would not dispute” Piquet’s claims that it asked him to help secure a victory for Fernando Alonso by crashing and triggering a safety car period during last year’s Singapore Grand Prix.
“The ING Renault F1 Team will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix,” the statement said.
“It also wishes to state that its managing director, Flavio Briatore, and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds, have left the team.
“Before attending the hearing before the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on 21 September 2009, the team will not make any further comment.”
I thought they'd fight a bit harder than that

I wonder how it affects Flavio's other business interests though? He is still the manager of several drivers, and the boss of QPR football club isn't he? Surely it wouldn't look good to be associated with a Cheat.?
