McLaren boss Ron Dennis has accepted the FIA's decision not to penalise
his team for possessing confidential Ferrari data, even if he was unhappy
that the squad was not completely exonerated.

:err: he was hardly gonna appeal was he

The FIA concluded that while the discovery of Ferrari documents at
McLaren designer Mike Coughlan's home meant the team had breached
the sporting regulations, it was impossible to prove that the data had been
used by McLaren.

:? Last seasons and this seasons performance might be proof enough...
or am I being cynical :?

Dennis's squad therefore escaped punishment, but was warned that if new
evidence came to light suggesting that McLaren had benefited from the
information, the team could be excluded from both the 2007 and 2008
world championships.

   BLIMEY

McLaren better hope nothing comes up at the court case of Ferrari Versus
Coughlan and Nigel Stepney

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz All about Bums On Seats mate...At home & at the venue.....F1 has probably started to get a bit of popularity back (bar all you die-hards)..No Shumi winning everything...New Brit sensation (for us) Etc Etc...so if Maclaren were docked alot of points or Thrown Out, no one would want to watch or buy tickets for the Ferrari parade in the last few rounds this year or all next....so nowt will come out, they won't have any more evidence....Lets Get Racing!!

McLaren has accused Ferrari of spreading false and misleading information
about its role in the spy saga so as to tarnish its reputation and
destabilise its world championship challenge.

Bitter about the appeal then LOL

In addition, the British team has responded to its Italian rival’s allegations
that it has cheated by claiming that Ferrari won the season-opening
Australian Grand Prix with an illegal car.
Dennis reveals that his team was made aware of technical irregularities
with Ferrari’s cars in March after Ferrari’s high-ranking employee Nigel
Stepney tipped off McLaren’s chief designer Mike Coughlan.

:err: so now they admit getting info off Nigel Stepney

The information Stepney furnished in March concerned two contentious
aspects of the Ferrari F2007: its rear wing separator and a floor
attachment mechanism.
“As far as we are aware, Ferrari ran their cars with this illegal device at
the Australian Grand Prix, which they won,” Dennis writes.

“Ferrari only withdrew the floor device after it was confirmed to be illegal
by the FIA.

So Ferrari took the device off when the FIA confirmed it was in breach of
the rules :?
Isn't F1 all about getting an advantage over your competitors... And this
was only found to be illegal AFTER its first use :?
If the rules are not clear enough they will be stretched a bit. :|
As for using Ferrari secrets on your car........ well

Fernando Alonso was given permission to miss the Hungarian Grand Prix
pre-event FIA drivers press conference after his McLaren team made an
official request to the FIA.
Lewis Hamilton was also withdrawn from his usual Friday meet-the-press
gathering.

LOL LOL LOL Ron Dennis is throwing his toys out the pram now then

"The two F2007 cars used in the Australian Grand Prix were deemed by the Stewards
to be in conformity with the technical regulations, before, during and at
the end of the event.

"If there had been any illegalities, they would have been disqualified."
