Schumacher had been leading the pack behind the safety car and heavily braked in the tunnel in a bid to warm up his tyres. As a result Montoya was left with nowhere to go and nudged the Ferrari, which then proceeded forward and into the outside tunnel wall.

their point of view. how do they know it wasn't mechanical problem? schummi wouldn't do such a stupid thing to brake in a tunnel where visability is low, while being in front of pack of around 12 cars. it would be stupid

That was the point of view of the stewards. You're right..it was stupid but face it.....he made a mistake!

These are Schumi's own words.....

“I was accelerating and braking just as we do when we go to the grid and in the standard way when running behind the safety car.

"The tunnel was not even the first place I had done it as I had used the same procedure earlier in the lap.

“A bit of smoke off the wheels is quite normal in these situations as you try to get heat into the front tyres and the brakes.”

He didn't mention a technical problem :P ...... or even a mechanical one!

JPM should have been looking where he was going :x :x :x

If you have an accident and someone goes into the back of you whose fault is it :?

Bloody Williams drivers must have a different mission to everyone else this season :x :x :x :x

Ban em both for one race :|

well lets be honest when it comes to that schummi isn't exactly an angel himself

And wot about Fisichella

He was fukin lucky when he hit DC :|

Butl like DC said, that BAR of Sato was smoking right from the start.
And didn't that engine go

It sure did go

I agree with DC ...they should have brought Sato in...it was obvious it was gonna blow and its so dangerous to happen there!

The best race this season so far.

Sato blowing up was a shame, lucky Fisi wasn't hurt

Alonso got caught out by Ralf, poor driving from Ralf, but it seems like he was having mechanical problems

Sorry guys, mistake by Schumacher in the tunnel. He should've known better, that tunnel is extremely dark. As well as that, letting your foot of the pedal in an F1 car, is almost like hitting the breaks anyway. Due to the downforce they produce, even at that speed. But breaking as well in that tunnel was not the best idea Schumi's had

Remember a few years ago, probably 1998/1999. He'd gone out in the last 5 minutes and got a pole time for the Monaco race.He was "swanning" around, waving to the crowd, being really pleased with himelf. He forgot that there was still time left in qualifying, and was pootling along.

Taki Inoue was on a hot lap, arrived at the swimming pool, and comes across Schumi waving to the crowd. Inoue tried to whip passed him, Schumi drifted across the road and Taki's Arrow's ended up spinning down the barrier for a few hundred yards after Shumi collected him.

So its not the first, or tha last mistake he has/will make

Great for Trulli though, i was really pleased :D

Respect to da man, Minardi are the greatest. They work so hard, with so little money. I think they're great. When you think about the drivers in F1 that wouldn't be there if it wasn't for Minardi giving them a chance, there's a hell of a lot :)

"Juan Pablo Montoya has agreed with Monaco GP stewards that his collision with Michael Schumacher was a simple racing incident."

Like he was gonna complain LOL
