I think I've posted here before about how impressed I am that the IMBB manages to stay up as long as it does.

MySQL + PHP aren't the most stable things in the world, and vBulletin isnt stretched to those limits often. Maiden World is bigger than most non-official english boards now, and even its database pales in comparison. (Although it has caused me to learn some interesting things about keeping website downtime to a minimum)

Running the official IMBB is probably no easy task.

Exactly it's stupid. There should be someone dedicating all their time to the maiden site and bb.

I just hope that they have the board up and running again soon. That's why I'm glad to be a part of this board. Almost all of my friends on the IMBB are here, and there's this general chat which always rules!!

Its all about volume. This board does a couple of hundred posts a day. The official board would probably be in the thousands. That board must be a great drain on resources considering they have no revenue from it, as it has a vast amount of users and traffic. Obviously, our model is slightly different and does generate revenue (which covers the hosting costs etc), hence the difference in the ability to run the site.
