Hello All!

Hello all,
I have been a fan of Maiden since 1985 and have wished for a online trading site like this for at least the last 6 or 7 years. I knew it would eventually happen and now I'm glad to see that it has. I have many boots of Maiden and other bands. I'll be joining this hub permenently so I can share my boots with the rest of you. Most of my boots are in Mp3 format but I will be looking to update them to newer quality. Most were obtained in 1998 or so and the mp3 rate was 128kbps. I have over a dozen original boots or more, so those I will re-mp3 to a higher bitrate. Finally, I am currently out of work, but do some side jobs in computers. I'm saving up to buy the biggest hard drive I can find to put in my server. That will be used to hold ALL of my boots and VCD concerts so hopefully it will make a lot of people happy when they get a chance to download my collections. Well, thats all for now. See you soon.

PS: Question: What is a good bitrate or going bitrate for mp3s today? I'd like to know so I can go back and re-mp3 my boots into a higher format.

Hi there,

With the original boots you are better off making them SHN or FLAC files (which is lossless in quality). These files are bigger than mp3s but do not lose any quality from the original cd. Before doing it make sure the cds have never been mp3s otherwise it defeats the point. For more info on shn and flac visit the hub website which is listed in the Hub New Forum of this site.

Thanks for your participation :)

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but here goes:
Once a recording has been converted to MP3, the quality has degraded. It doesn't matter if you re-encode it to 66666666666 kbps, the loss of high frequency will still be apparent.

Lossless audio is the way to go, although I'll probably be dead before that happens in the Maiden Community :x :x

I have over a dozen Maiden boots that are originals that I bought in bootleg music shops in NYC in the early to mid 90s. Thos eare the ones I'm itnerested in possibly recording at higher rates. As for the dozens of mp3 shows I have, I'll just leave them the way they are as it won't make a difference if they are re-converted.

See you all online tonight.

Well, what I'm trying to get across is this:
if you have a copy of the original recording, although it might not be of the best sound quality, that's the real deal.
mp3:s degrade sound quality, and I personally don't like that. Unfortunately, most people are happy listening to crappy mp3:s.

Check out http://rush.daneck.com/bad_mp3.htm for more info, and keep sharing the good stuff!

Hopefully, people will realise that while mp3:s are accessible, they're nowhere near the quality of proper sound files, like WAV, SHN, FLAC.

Hi,man. Do you have a list, can you pm it to me, or check my site below.

Ok, Here is what I'm going to do. I'm working on a new list at the moment. I'll try to post my Iron Maiden stuff in a quick text file and then I'll make that available for download on the hub. Download the text fiel and if you see anything you may be interested in email me at johndraugr@soznet.net and I'll put it up in my share directory. I would just put all the shows up at once, but I am very low on hard disk space, and until I get that 250+ megabyte hard drive, I'll have to do a request system for now. :)

Look for Disc Master I in the Hub. I'll even post a link to a online text file with the Maiden boots on it. I'm looking for any 2003 Maiden boots and especially a VCD or audio of the Jones Beach Show on 7/26 as I was there. Would be interested in all three bands Motorhead/Dio/Maiden from that show.

Thanks
