Cool things about where you live

Here's some cool things about my town: I'm about 2 miles away from the beach, there are rolling grasslands and forests in the same area, some with trails and conservation sites, the historic district is only a mile away from my home, there's a haunted Quaker Meeting house just outside my neighborhood and it's also a National Historical Landmark, there's also an abandoned amusement park that's also alleged to be haunted, and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth was designed by a total psycho who is also alleged to haunt the university. A few other things that I like is that I saw Henry Rollins at the same university and Iron Maiden visited the university as well when they still had Blaze on vocals. They did an interview at the radio station there.

I like where I live because there's soooo much to do. In one day you can visit a nice beach, the zoo, a museum, see a show (movies, concerts, sports or theater), head to the Laserium to see a Pink Floyd laser show, and still drive up to the mountains to see the stars. Plus you can spend all day drinking for free at a casino and eating at the buffett
Almost everything can be done here

I think that's the first ringing endorsement of LA I've ever heard.

My town of Ann Arbor kicks ass. There's no beach, but there are cool forests you can trounce through, not that I do. And there are good museums and libraries and plenty of culture -- including one of the country's premier poetry slams :anorak:. It's one of America's more liberal towns, and always high on those lists of most liveable U.S. cities, and I have heard that Ann Arbor has the highest per capita book sales in the United States.

Next week I'll be in San Diego which is one of my favorite places on earth. :D

San Diego's cool 8) there's so many awesome things to do there. It only takes me about 1 1/2 to get there from here, less if I speed :D

You should come meet me for lunch and a beer. Or we could go see the Bruegel painting in the Timken gallery together.

That is, unless you have, like, a life...

 right now I am not allowed to have a life- doctor's damn orders :x

I almost forgot something pretty cool- a couple of years ago some sculptors made several hundred statues of angels and gave them to all kinds of different people and organizations so they can decorate them. The statues were placed all over the county of Los Angeles (the angels in Spanish). Several were painted by children- one was placed a couple of miles from my house. It was dedicated to children who have died of cancer
I think it's cool because it allows regular people to add to the culture of L.A.

That's a great thing to do, i wish we had a few more things like that over here. It might make people take a bit more pride in things if they felt they had a chance to contribute to their surroundings :)

A shortish version of the whole story.......

We have been stuck with one shitty Somerfield store for years....Tesco's had planning to build big new store......Somerfield paid 2.5 million for a 13 year lease on a very small piece of ground that was really crucial to Tesco's plans

I fuckin hate Somerfields :x :x :x :x

Yeah .. the great thing about where I live is the place called Centre Square. Its in, obviously, the centre of town and thats where all the prostitots and diddlers hang out. It's an all around creepy place. Eerie really. But now they put speakers up around it and started to play classical music.

So really .. they're trying to reduce crimes and drugs deals a prostitution by playing classical music. Makes sense to me.
