I want to get Jake a Gameboy advance for xmas

Which is the best to get...the one with the controls each side of the screen or the flip one?

the flip one surely....I have it :D It's more performant, you can play with it when It's dark cause it's enlightened by the inside :D

buy the SP
it is powered by a lithium battery that you plug into the wall so it saves money on batteries and has a back-light so it doesn't strain your eyes

for games though i know many good ones
i have 59 GBA games
i pre-ordered mine so i got it the day it came out and have played almost all of them
mario kart: super circuit
any mario game
sonic advance 3
spyro season of ice
if you don't mind a bit of reading then metroid fusion is good

they're the best kid games i know of :wink:
well they appealed to me when i bought them :err:
 
My worry is that the flip one doesn't look as sturdy as the other one. Because of his special needs he can be pretty rough with things. He's got very big hands too, can't decide if he'd find it easier to use the one with controls either side :?

well if you mean he could get frustrated with it and bash it then i still think the sp is better
i have both and the original has a different screen. my little cousin got one and he really sux at games so it slammed it on the table and the ink or woteva it is all came to the top of the screen, thats the normal. if you threw it across the room it would break because it is made with thinner plastic and the components aren't as tight together so it would fall to peices
the sp on the other hand, if you throw it, it is that compact it will not break as badly, the screen will stay fine because you can flip it
the normal one has some better controls in a way but because the buttons are so big and stick out they can hurt your hands if you keep sliding your thumb from one to the other
the sp may be smaller but your fingers curl downwards and your index fingers rest on the back shoulder buttons so it makes it a bit better

the screen scratchs very easy on the normal one by the way

yea but its so cool
i blew up this massive scarab thing now i'm playing the lead coventant from the first one and i can go invisible and kill people with my massive sword
so i do math and english now while i give my dad a go on it
then eat and stuff then play it until... later and then sleep
then skip school :D
