Formula 1 team bosses Frank Williams and Ron Dennis have suggested that the new qualifying system may undergo some tweaks before the start of the European season next month.

The three-part format, featuring two knock-out sessions followed by a shoot-out for the 10 fastest drivers, was generally well received and regarded as a big improvement on the unpopular single-lap qualifying used since 2003.

The first two sessions saw some nail-biting moments as teams and drivers waited to see who would make the cut.

But the final shoot-out was judged a more qualified success – although there was an exciting climax, drivers spent the first 15 of the 20 minutes available cruising around trying to burn off fuel.

This was because they earned fuel credits (dubbed ‘tiger tokens’ by ITV Sport’s Martin Brundle) for each lap that they recorded, enabling them to ‘stock up’ on fuel for Sunday’s race while still setting their hot laps on a light fuel load at the end of the session.

It is this aspect of the new system that has come under scrutiny.

Thank god for that

Criticism has been aimed at Ferrari for having a wing that apparently
flexes too much. According to Renault Engineering Director Pat Symonds,
the 248 F1's rear wing is illegal even though there is nothing against the
rules about it. This is what Symond's had to say while whining about
Ferrari doing too well again:

"I am not at all happy about it. It is very clear what you can or cannot do.
There might be specific rules about specific parts, but there are also
general rules and I know exactly what that wing does. And that is not what
I would expect."

Translation... We are scared that Ferrari are gonna be better this year

Pat Symond's comments stem from the possibility that Ferrari's rear wing
moves too much but that the FIA's way of testing wings can not detect
this. Although it is more likely that his comments are based on the fact
that Ferrari is once again beating his team and that he wants to
incriminate them with something illegal. This is always the case when
Ferrari is winning, other team's just can not accept that Ferrari can beat
them so they accuse the Scuderia of cheating.

Technically speaking, there is nothing illegal about the wing and the FIA's
inspection teams have given Ferrari a complete thumbs-up regarding the
wing's use.

If the wing passes the tests then it is legal.... Subject closed

I expect Whinging Ron Dennis to jump on the bandwagon shortly :|

or even if he doesn't wake you up you're going to hear it anyways be it on the telly, from somebody who doesn't know you didn't see the race....

Michael Schumacher remains optimistic that he can make an impact on the
Malaysian Grand Prix despite having to start outside of the top ten thanks
to an engine change prior to qualifying.

With so many drivers requiring new engines, the official grid for the race
will not be announced until Sunday morning, but it seems certain that the
Ferrari star will start no higher than 12th.

:err: thats great...

so I still dont know the fukin grid :x :x :x

Adding to my answer above....

Schumi could be starting 10th, 12th or 14th......

That is what I have found.... he did qualify 4th but changed his engine...
But so did a lot of others :err:
Why they need so long to announce the grid I dont know :x
