BAR-Honda confirmed on Tuesday that it has signed Rubens Barrichello for 2006 and beyond, finally bringing one of Formula 1’s worst-kept secrets into the open.

The news had been widely anticipated even before the announcement earlier this month that Felipe Massa will take Barrichello’s place at Ferrari next season.

Barrichello has amassed nine race victories during his six-year tenure with Ferrari but has grown increasingly disenchanted with playing second fiddle to team leader Michael Schumacher.
