Robert Kubica says he is eager to race in this weekend's US Grand Prix at
Indianapolis despite being hospitalised following his massive 160mph
crash in Montreal.

According to Reuters, the remarkable Pole, who emerged from the shunt
with nothing more than a mild concussion and a sprained ankle, told
reporters he was ready to climb back in the car again.

"As you see I'm quite in good shape and I'm hoping (to be) going to
Indianapolis if the doctors will say OK for my driving," he said, prior to
driving himself away from hospital.

Should the FIA deem Kubica unfit to race, the his seat is likely to be taken
by reserve driver and GP2 Series points leader Timo Glock.

Robert Kubica will not take part in this weekend’s US Grand Prix and his
place will be taken by BMW Sauber’s official reserve driver Sebastian
Vettel.

Kubica underwent a medical examination at Indianapolis on Thursday
following his massive crash in Montreal last Sunday.

Although he showed no ill effects and passed the test, the FIA’s medical
delegate Gary Hartstein decided to rest him for the weekend on
precautionary grounds.
