Reasonably certain I was looking at little 20 watt amps so it wouldn't cost much.

I know someone with an amp, but he's a dick and I don't really want to deal with him.

I still have options if it doesn't work. Fix the guitar, return or sell the amp, and yes, buy a guitar!
