"..singer Sophie Ellis Bextor, who had a smash hit album with her 2001 multi-platinum selling "Read My Lips", has been found dead in her room in a Paris hotel. She was found this morning by staff and her manager who broke in to her room when she failed to appear for a promotional interview. Miss Bextor was in Paris to perform a series of small concerts to promote her new EP, due for release on the 8th of September.
French police Captain Paul Renard described her injuries as "particularly horrific" and indicated that the trauma seemed to have been caused by "a heavy, blunt and rounded instrument" . Detectives investigating the scene are hoping to find clues in Miss Bextors hotel room which may give some indication of who killed the singer. Captain Renard informed the BBC that "We are not aware of any specific threats to Miss Bextor since her arrival in Paris on Monday. However it is possible that we could be dealing with a case of "Murder on Zidane's Floor"
