1987 - Bon Jovi headlined the Mosters of Rock festival at Castle
Donington, England.
 
1893 - Liverpool Football Club play their first ever league match.
Away at Middlesbrough Ironopolis on September 2nd 1893 and won 2-0
Liverpool finished the season winning the Division Two title. 8)
 
1983 - Metallica ended their first tour entitled "Kill 'em all for one." The
tour began on July 27, 1983.

1939: Britain and France declare war on Germany
Britain and France are at war with Germany following the invasion
of Poland two days ago.


1943: Allied troops invade mainland Italy
British troops have landed on the Italian mainland four years to the day
after war was declared on Germany.


1984: Typhoon batters Philippines
At least 1,300 people have died and hundreds more have been injured
after the worst storm in living memory swept across the southern
Philippines.


2004: Russian school siege ends in violence
More than 200 people are now known to have died after a three-day siege
at a Russian school came to a bloody end.
 
1968 - "Street Fighting Man," by the Rolling Stones, was banned in several
cities in the U.S. Authorities feared it might incite public disorder

1970 - "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" was released by the Rolling Stones.

1976 - The KISS single "Beth" was released.

1996 - Kiss performed on the MTV Video Music Awards. They performed
under the Brooklyn Bridge.

1997 - After performing at the MTV Video Music Awards, Pat Smear
publicly announced that he would no longer be the guitarist for the Foo
Fighters.
 
1975 - "Alive" was released by KISS. The album contained live
performances from KISS' first three albums.

1990 - Will Smith made his debut in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
 
1966 - The Rolling Stones released the song "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby."

1969 - It was reported by "The London Daily Mirror" that Paul McCartney
was dead. It was the first time the rumor was printed.

1991 - Izzy Stradlin left Guns N' Roses. Gilby Clarke replaced him.
