:banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:

At graspop after 1h I was already voiceless! I will need like 2 weeks of recovery after that gig! :P
I know, my voices ain't discussing to anyone after that :err: :D :wink:
I'm now packing my bags, it's 5 hour trip to the gig and another 5 hours back :shock: I'll be at home around 4am and the school starts at 8am :err:
I hope they'll play lots of SfaM :banana: I shall post the setlist in this thread (if I can remember it) + other stuff
I hope I'll get a shirt :D

An Evening With Dream Theater will just be DT on their own, no support bands :banana:

I'm seeing them in Wolverhampton next month, if only the tickets would hurry up, getting me worried :|

I've just seen that in last year's edition of an evening with dream theater they played "Glass Prison"! :banana: :banana:
That song is breathtaking! :shock:

Finlavarium

Report of the Evening With Dream Theater at Sep 27 in Jäähalli, Helsinki Finland

The Settings
OK, the place wasn't that big, capacity of 8120 people I think. But it was a nice place. They had three screens that showed mostly the CD related different animations and clips + solos and posing :D
The crowd was... lame. At the "mosh pit" the people really seemed to enjoy but in the seats they all sat through the gig, which flattened the mood :| The guy next to me just sat arms crossed the whole gig - no clapping - no shouting, just sitting.
Sound was pretty good, I should've used earplugs 'cause the highs of LaBries' singing and Rudess' keys (specially on Octavarium). A couple of times the LaBries' singing disappeared in the other music and same happened with some Rudess' keys on Honor Thy Father.

The Band
...was amazing. Rudess had a lovely setting of three keyboards (one revolving 360°) and a lap steel guitar, and Portnoy had a lovely set of drums. Myung had... well, a bass ( :err: ) and Petruccy had a quite of variety in guitars (including double guitar in Octavarium).
Now, LaBries' voice. It's in a bloody amazing shape. I have seen some of their recorded live performances and I could see James being a bit scared of the high-parts and screwing them up. Now he sang those perfectly and added those highs in other parts too. I think he's very pleased to his voice, and he should be. Just amazing.

The Songs
LaBrie said after the first two songs that this tour is celebrating their 20th anniversary and thus they played something out of every LP. Personally I was very pleased, apart from the fact that there were only one Scenes From A Memory song.

Setlist:

Intro (same as in 2005-06-25 - Parc Des Princes, Paris. Clockwork Orange and the outro of In The Name Of God)
The Root Of All Evil
Panic Attack
// James' speech (telling that this is a 20th anniversary tour and bla bla...) //
(some track from Majesty era)
A Fortune In Lies
Under A Glass Moon
Mirror
Lie
Peruvian Skies
Fatal Tragedy
About To Crash (Reprise)
Losing Time/Grand Finale
~~~intermission~~~
As I Am (with "Eat My Ass And Balls")
This Dying Soul
// James' speech (telling that now we have played something from every CD, and now to the present) //
Never Enough
Sacrificed Sons
Octavarium
-encore-
In The Name Of God (thus making this gig "a full circle")
-2nd encore-
Pull Me Under/Metropolis pt.1
Outro (Singing In The Rain)
Octavarium played live the first time ever - lovely :D
Before Pull Me Under I finally got fed up with this fancy schmanshy sitting BS and stood up, and made the rest of our section stand up :D thou they didn't sing, scream, clap - they just stood :|
Overall an amazing gig. The solos were amazing, the drumming was amazing and the singing was amazing. The next time I shall get my arse to the mosh pit... :fist:
EDIT: Intro info, Outro info
