i never considered them to be pop as back then pop didn't exist. it was and still is classic rock. beatles same thing. i think pop was created in 80's when mtv was created. tasted they dictated became popular music aka pop music. so hair metal, glam metal, grudge.......its all pop, while heavy metal mas never really much promoted by mtv so heavy metal isn't pop. at least that's my oppinion
