His name is Robert Kirk and he was the seventh son in his family, so they believed he was gifted with the second sight. He worked his way up from poverty and graduated uni early as a Doctor of Divinity. He became a clergyman and wrote the book in 1691.

But they say the Fair Folk don't like when someone tells their secrets. Robert went for a walk on the hill near his home one day. He collapsed in a fairy circle and died.
