When I start it up I get 2 options boot menu and bios settings...If i don't choose either of them I get..
media test failure, check cable
no operating system found.

Basically Jake thumped it...got blue screen of death and it wiped the memory :(
i think something is broken then(phisically)
can't help you much there if you do not open it

Start the computer.
Start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows
Advanced Options menu appears.
If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display
a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try
again.
Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press
Enter.

Maybe he knocked off a plug in the laptop when he bashed it then :?

insert windows cd in the drive and try booting from it
if it doesnt want to boot from it then i guess hard disk cable could have unplugged itself or it could have been damaged
if bios settings are ok then its not the bios chip thats damaged that is a big plus already

if she gets no operating system found than the problem is surley in hard disk

It's given me a message now that basically says hard drive is fucked :(

yup it was just among the water leeking from the laptop and there was this tune that kinda went
