Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of Liverpool's crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against Juventus on Wednesday night after failing to recover from a groin strain at the weekend.
The Liverpool captain suffered an adductor strain in the final minutes of Liverpool's 1-nil defeat to Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday and was today ruled out of the trip to Turin by medical staff at the club's Melwood training complex.
A spokesperson for Liverpool Football Club confirmed Gerrard would not travel with the squad to Turin on Tuesday but will stay at Melwood for further treatment. Club doctors are hopeful Gerrard may be able to recover in time to be involved in Liverpool's game against Tottenham at Anfield on Saturday.

UEFA are a bunch of hypocrits though, so probably just a big fine and 1 season without CL football for Inter.
Look at the Leeds fans that got murdered in Turkey, what did UEFA do about that? Be very different if it was the English.....

Police have arrested eight Juventus fans ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.
A Liverpool fan was hit on the head with a bat on Tuesday evening at a Turin bar, police confirmed.
The supporter did not go to hospital and will still watch the game in Turin, but the home fans were arrested for violence and possession of arms.
Elsewhere, tempers flared at a hotel when Juventus fans arrived, reportedly carrying bottles and a stick.
Why not ban Italian teams from Europe for five years.
Anders Frisk hit by a missle thrown by Roma fans.
Crowd trouble in the Milan derby that resulted in the AC Milan keeper being set on fire.
