The Chicago Tribune posted an article today regarding the rise in brand-name soundtracks within games, which was pioneered by Grand Theft Auto 3, and continued by its successor, Vice City. The latter had a multi disc sountrack, of which one was self-descriptively rock and metal. The article claims that this disc outsold the rest of the collection, which would agree with the current market trends towards more rock/metal orientated bands.

GTA3 Vice City wasnt the only game to feature Maiden in the recent past, the Tony Hawks series also featured heavy references, including eddie as a bonus character, Iron Maiden skateboard decks, and "The Number of the Beast" in the soundtrack. Its probably not news to most fans, but it might be an interesting discussion topic
