summin i got told in school today

If we could shrink the earth`s population to a village of 100 peopl, it would be like this:
There would be:
61 people from ASIA
13 people from AFRICA
12 people from EUROPE
8 people from SOUTH AMERICA,CENTRAL AMERICAand the CARRIBEAN
5 people from CANADA and the UNITED STATES
and 1 person from AUSTRALIA, NEW ZELAND and the PACIFIC ISLAND


9 people would speak English
17 would not be able to read or write
only 30 people will always have enough to eat
24 people do not have electricity
20 people earn less than 65p a day
24 have a telivision in their home
25 will not have access to a source of safe water.


If you have food in the fridge,clothes on your back,a roof overhead and a place to sleep,you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,in your walletand spare change in a dish someplace you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.


i just thought that was intresting so enjoy :D
 
To add to this, you're all using the internet, so its safe to say you have the basic needs met for your survival.

Hence you fall into that 8% most wealthy figure.

That's pretty sobering really. 25% of the earth has no safe water. 70% go hungry. That's very messed up.

no the teacher from the highschool read it to us and gave us a leaflet about it so i didnt remember it all
